Palm Cove is a tropical beach approximately 20 minutes north of Cairns. It is the premier beach in tropical Queensland and is often described by visitors (and the locals!) as one of the most picturesque beaches in Australia.

Looking out at the Coral Sea, two islands can be seen: Double Island and Haycock Island. Double Island is home to a small exclusive resort, and Haycock Island is uninhabited.

It is nicknamed the Scout Hat Island because it looks like (you guessed it!) an oversized scout hat. Between these unspoiled continental islands lies tropical reef.

Forming a backdrop to the beach are aesthetically designed resort hotels that blend into the rainforest covered mountains.

A bus service operates regularly from Palm Cove to Cairns. For those wanting more exclusive travel, taxi transport is available. Renting a car is another good option for visitors who want more freedom to explore the region.
